As I was watching the presentation, I was surprised that they announced Stereo Bluetooth as one of hundred features they are planning for the new mobile OS. The iPhone and iPod Touch uses the same OS to operate therefore I was interested in learning what Apple was developing. I have many ideas of what I would do with an iPhone and iPod Touch but I did not expect so many added features from the new OS. One of the biggest hold back for me to getting the iPod Touch was the inability to support for wireless headphone via Bluetooth. I currently own Jabra BT620s Bluetooth Headphone plugged into my Cowon A2 as a wireless music solution. Not many MP3 players support Stereo Bluetooth therefore for my headphone I brought Jabra 210s as Bluetooth adapter for my player. The adapter can be plugged into any standard headphone jack on MP3 players, speakers, and computers. Unfortunately, the adapter does stick out and is a hassle to conceal. As I was researching the iPod Touch's tech specs, I learned that it has a built in Bluetooth chip used with a Nike accessory. I was so disappointed that I was not able to use my wireless headphone with the iPod Touch(my next portable media player) without dealing with the adapter issues. I started researching other wireless headphones and adapters combo solely for the iPod Touch such as the Sony DRBT140Q Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headset with Sony Bluetooth Wireless Transmitter for iPod. I was holding off for the next version of the iPod Touch hoping Apple will have Stereo Bluetooth built-in. I know that not a lot of people, like myself, was expecting to hear about this feature coming out but I wholeheartedly welcome it. I enjoy music greatly and the luxury of wireless solution to hear my music. For current (3G) and past iPhone owners the upgrade will be free but for iPod Touch owners they will have to pay $10. Many have criticize Apple for robbing iPod Touch owners for paying for the upgrade but I beg to differ. I do agree that Apple should have had the Stereo Bluetooth enabled at the release of the iPod Touch but not many owners know that it has a Bluetooth chip bulit-in. For ten dollar, I believe it is worth it not only for the Stero Bluetooth but the many other features in the new OS. Now that the iPod Touch supports Stereo Bluetooth with A2DP advanced controls allowing me to enjoy and control my music without an adapter, it makes it a must buy for me.
